An outstanding expression of Pinot Blanc that gets better with age
Always buy more than one as it ages supremely
Burgundian style richness but with a freshness and minerality rarely seen to this level in the Cote D'Or

Vollmondwein means "Full Moon Wine"

Late harvest on a full moon. It's so good it might just make you believe in the power of a full moon. No, it's no werewolf, more the peace and harmony of a summer night under the full moon - perhaps on the hills above Vienna watching the city lights below. This is a very skillful wine - pear, apples, warm granite and toasted hazelnuts and a lovely hint of a well-used tea caddy. Full bodied but with excellent acidity. This is Pinot Blanc with real class, not just another nice wine but one that shows a careful and loving winemaker.

Appearnce: Medium lemon

Nose: Pronounced notes of limestone shell and flinty gunsmoke with ripe pear

Palate: Dry, high acidity, high alcohol, full bodied and very long finish.

A rich mouthfeel with wonferful texture, refreshing mineral notes really showing off the terroir of the single vineyard, Ried Falkenberg's limestone. Prounounced aromas of ripe white peach and conference pear fuse with the mineral notes seamlessly. The finish is exquisite with the limestone minerality lingering on the palate in an almost effervescent way.

An excellent wine drinking well now with further ageing potential...

Considered by Austrian wine expert Stephen Brook to be Rainer's most intriguing wine is this partially oaked VOLLMONDWEIN (full moon wine) from WEISSBURGUNDER grown on a high limestone plateau high up on the Bisamberg (350m above sea level) a cool site that is harvested during the full moon. This single vineyard known as the Ried Falkenberg has chalky mineral subsoil composed mostly of mussel limestone sediment. This makes it the perfect terroir for the Pinot family.

After pressing the juice is exposed to s smidge of skin contact for anything upto 4 hours without SO2 Natural yeasts are used for fermentation which s 75% in s/s and 25% French oak barrels. After fermentation the wine is left on its fine lees for between 6-10 months.

The wines are suitable for Vegans and Vegetarians as Vegan certified as no fining and sterile filtration.

These wines have good ageing potential with it not unusual to be still drinking well 10-12 years after release.
