Les Frères Dutruy

The Dutruy Brothers built their business on the bond between two men with complementary talents, supported by a family nucleus very committed to the smooth running of the business.

After a viticulture Masters Degree and some internships in Swiss wineries, Christian Dutruy cut his teeth in the Napa and South African wine industries before returning to Switzerland as the nursery/vineyard manager and logistics expert.

His brother, Julien Dutruy 5 years his junior is responsible for marketing and winemaking and holds the National Wine Diploma from Bordeaux university as well as experience gained in some prestigious French estates in Burgundy, Bordeaux, Alsace and New Zealand.

In 2005, Christian and Julien Dutruy took over the 25 hectares family estate in the municipalities of Founex, Coppet and Commugny west of the AOC La Côte, the duo also manages one of the main nurseries in Switzerland.

Working according to the standards of organic viticulture with no synthetic products or herbicides used in the vineyard.

This results in better soil and vine quality, as well as a guarantee of the sustainability of the soil, with a view rooted in the family spirit, that of passing it on as an inheritance to their children.

The cellar also houses large wooden vats which allow natural micro-oxygenation of the wines without adding woody notes. Finally, there are around 120 French oak barrels on the estate. A regular turn makes it possible to maintain a balanced ratio of new barrels and barrels of several wines.

The prestigious wines, presented under the name "Les Romaines" are made up of cuvées characterized by very high requirements in terms of work in the vineyard, vinification and aging. We stock two of the Grandes Réserve, aged in wood and on lees for at least a year in from the region. Both are serious wines which deliver at every level A Gamay that’s smoky and robust and a Viognier that has a level of fruit development that is surprising for 4 year old wine yet with wonderful acidity.
