Why Choose This?

Grüner Veltliner from Viennese master Christ - bolder than most.

More about

Quite a rich wine. Very good length with a nice spicy finish.

The "Bruch", Christ's prime location for the Grüner Veltliner, lies on a steeply sloping south-facing slope on Vienna's Bisamberg.

The soil conditions are characterized by washed-up ice age terrace gravel that protrudes to the surface.

These conditions along the Danube offer the Grüner Veltliner the ideal conditions to produce an expression of its crisp, fresh, peppery fruit.

Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

Ben says about the 2007 (August 2016): Now that this wine is nine years old, there are a few changes from what you might normally expect from Grüner Veltliner. The spicy, peppery nose has been replaced by a refined and rather pleasant aroma of freshly rained upon grass. The flavours in the mouth are far more mature than I anticipated with the fresh fruits being replaced by dried ones, especially banana and apricot, though not very strong. The balance is good and the acidity is perfect.

Flo says about the 2007 (July 2018): This wine has aged beautifully. Dried apricot appears both in the tart acidic notes and the delicate sweetness. This wine is carefully balanced and beautifully mature Gruner that mature wine lovers will adore.

Ben says about the 2011 (October 2016): A light peppery aroma with traces of peach and lychee. In the mouth it is still quite crisp although starting to mellow a little. It has a very refined flavour with white pepper and peach dominating. Very different from the 2007 and a lovely wine.

Flo says about the 2011 (October 2016): Entirely different from the 2007 but still beautiful this wine reminds me of mangosteen and lychee in the nose. The white pepper and peach still dominate the palate. A beautiful wine.
