They've been growing grapes at the Klosterneuburg Monastery since 1114 when it was founded; Which makes it one of
the largest estates at 108 hectares and oldest in Austria. Spread over sites in three regions; Klosterneuburg (Wagram), Nussdorf (Vienna) and the towns of Tattendorf and Gumpoldskirchen (Thermenregion), each area focusing on the wines that show typicity of that region.
If you like to try unusal or rare wines try the blend of indigenous white varieties Zierfandler and Rotgipfler from Gumpoldskirchen.
It's also a great place to visit with tasting rooms, a tour of the monatery and 6 kms of cellars which were partially ransacked by Napoleon and then again at the end of the Second World War but the advancing Russian army!
If you're looking for wines with a historical pedigree, then look no further....
