Ripe, exotic fruit - a mix of mango and banana. Fruity and charming, balanced and long on the palate.
Aged surprisingly well. Another one of those crazy Alpine Wines surprises

It's a great "sip on its own" wine, for conversations with friends.
It can then go straight into nibbles and food. The mango angle makes me want indian and asian starters - thinking tandoori chicken, chicken tikka, chicken satay, bhajis
Otherwise what we're having tonight: piccata with classic milanese risotto.
Joelle says of the 2008 (March 2018) - this is surprisingly fruity and lively for 10 year old "simple" Chardonnay. The cool climate probably helped here. It has no right to be this good. Mango and spice and a finish straight out of Columbo. Read the tasting notes, it'll make sense. One to grab and love.
Ben says (May 2017): The 2011 is beautifully clear and clean. The art of the winemaker shows throughout this wine. It is very similar to the 2008 with few, if any, vintage differences.
Flo says (July 2018): The 2011 still shines through with tropical fruit flavours and clean flavours. A beautiful Chardonnay that will surprise even those who traditionally eschew the Chardonnay grape
tl;dr This is delicious, fruity with a soft spicy finish and if the label didn't say 2008 you would never believe it!

Right after opening the wine was still a but subdued in the nose, but after 20 minutes it has blossomed. At the beginning I thought more of yellow plums but once it had opened the mango was there again. Think Mango lassi. There is surprising freshness still and the smell of hot rocks (if you are ever out on rocky land on a hot summer day you will know what I mean). A murmur of beeswax is perhaps the only real sign of age in the nose.
In the mouth this could be 2 years old at most. A light citrussy start, then a heart of vanilla, and then the mango and spice join in, for a finish that is very peppery indeed. I enjoyed it even more as the wine got warmer in the glass.
The finish feels a little short at first, but then as we chatted the wine kept coming back - moments of lemonade zing, then calm, then exotic fruit, then calm again, the spice, then quiet...
If you forgive me the metaphor (and even if you don't), this wine's finish is straight out of "Columbo" - you think it's gone and then... "one more thing: did you forget the mango?"
Like Columbo, It'll get you in the end.
