Yet another Merlot blockbuster from Guido Brivio.
A beautiful ruby coloured, perfectly clean and clear wine with wonderful aromas of black fruits and blueberry, caramalised plums, hints of liquorice and a lovely oaked softness from the 12 months in oak. Brivio has a magic ability to create deep reds without any harsh or overly obvious tannins and this is one of those wines. In the mouth the aromas transfer perfectly with a fantastic amount of spice. The softness is tremendous without any trace of flabbiness at all. It is a superb wine. Jancis Robinson refers to Brivio's "Platinum" Merlot as a Pomerol. High, but accurate, praise indeed.
Flo says of the 2012 (Feb 2018): This Swiss merlot is herbaceous and tannic with large red fruit notes, well worth a try!
