The Steinertal is up high on the sunniest corner of the Wachau. The name stands for "Rock Valley" and indeed there are lots of boulders left by the glaciers and the Danube. It's a bit cooler and windier than the Loibenberg around it, so more mineral, diamond sharp, and a bit slower to open

Typically you want to snatch the oldest vintage still available, unless you are buying to cellar for 20 years.
