More about

Müller Thurgau has been much maligned, if not vilified in the UK, as we have only had the chance to experience rather poor expressions of the grape particularly, I am afraid to admit, from some of the earlier English wines made from the grape. If yields are too high, it can produce quite thin and uninspiring wine.

Here however, there is a massive difference. I came to this wine with low expectations which were quickly shattered.

This is a crisp, fruity wine which is of very high quality. The fresh aromas and flavours are all the more surprising after years of disappointment and show how good Müller Thurgau can be when in the right hands. Bachtobel is known for its excellent Pinot Noir but this magical white is as good as anything they make.
