Ideal with veal, various lamb dishes and Asian dishes. Intended as a companion for just about any occasion.
Serving temperature: 12°C.
Ben says (February 2017): Grüner Veltliner is a lovely grape when young and when mature. This wine has joined the ranks of the latter description and has altered accordingly. On the nose, it is getting aromas that might make you think instantly of Riesling as there is a real diesel smell dominating. Behind that there are the fruits, mainly citrus, and hints of wild honey. In the mouth, there is still a lot of freshness which belies its age but still a deeper richness which gives away the maturity. This is a white wine which would be happy with red meat. It has a weight and gravitas behind it that puts it beyond the usual white wine pairings.
Ben says (July 2018): I love my job! When I poured this wine, I had a slight feeling that I might be disappointed, at last. Wrong! This is still a vibrant and joyous wine that seems to continue improving with age. Long may that continue!
