We love Zweigelt and really love oaked Zweigelt. When that oaked Zweigelt comes from the vineyards of the Royal House of Lichtenstein we are delighted.
The wine is a deep red, full bodied and rounded on the palate. Tastes of dark chocolate and leather, cherry and well balanced tannins with elegant structure and good length. This wine needs decanting, so stand it upright for a day or two before opening and carefully pour into a jug or decanter watching out for the tell-tale sign of deposit by looking through the neck of the bottle at a candle flame. When you see the line appear in the clear flow of wine, stop pouring. Whatever is left in the bottle can go into gravy or be poured into a separate glass to stand for a couple of hours and be carefully poured/drunk off the sediment.
