Thörnich, Mosel

Weingut Kollmann-Becker is a family owned Mosel wine estate run by the third generation of the Kollmann family.

Bianca Kollmann and her partner Martin Becker took over the business from Bianca’s parents in 2008 and moved the operation from the family property in Detzem to a bigger facility in the heart of the vineyards in Thörnich.

The vision of Bianca’s grandfather was to produce world class wines that express the unique terroirs of the vineyards and this remains the objective today. Martin and Bianca are commited to making typical Mosel wines that reflect the minerality of the slate soil in the glass. Kollmann-Becker wines are harmonious, well balanced, full of intense fruit, with exceptional fruit aromas and with a fine acidity.

Most of the Kollmann-Becker vineyards are located around the Mosel villages of Thörnich, Detzem, Klüsserath and Pölich. Approximately 70% of the vineyards are planted with Riesling grapes. The Estate also makes some excellent red wines from the Dornfelder and Pinot Noir (Spätburgunder) grape varieties.

In early 2010, Kollmann-Becker acquired the estate of Josef Lexin Klüsserath and absorbed the Lex vineyard holdings, thus guaranteeing ongoing availability of the excellent Dornfelder we have been supplying to the UK market for some years.
