Shomron, Mount Carmel
The Vitkin winery was established on the Rutenberg-Belogolovsky farm in Vitkin Village in Israel during the 2001 harvest. Owners Doron Belogolovsky and his wife Sharona Paz-Belogolovsky, assisted by Sharona's brother Asaf Paz, have made Vitkin what is considered to be one of the most fascinating wineries in the Israeli wine industry. Varieties grown include Carignan, Viognier, Gewürztraminer, Cabernet Franc, Johannesburg Riesling, Petite Sirah, Pinot Noir and other surprises.
Vitkin's mainstream offering, the Israeli Journey range, offers a level of complex and sophisticated wines at what are, for Israeli wines, excellent value prices. Vitkin's main vineyards are planted all over the country - the Ella Valley, Judean Hills, Jerusalem Mountains and Carmel Mountain slopes. The winery grows its grapes in these vineyards under total and continuous control of all the processes of growth, from the matching of the variety to the nature of the soil and climate of the vineyard location until the time of harvest.
Vitkin's Israeli Journey wines are so named because the grapes used to make the wines come from vineyards in different parts of Israel, hence the physical "journey" to these various regions.
