Martin & Anna Arndorfer
I met Martin Arndorfer through the Steininger family. He married one of their daughters and vinifies their red wines for them. But, good as these reds are (and they are, especially once turned into sparkling wines), it is with his own wines that Martin really shines.
Coming from a winemaking family, Martin went his own way for a while gathering experience especially in Italy. He brought back a love of oak barrels and barriques even for his "classic" style wines. He crafts his whites for ageing, which as an enthusiast for mature whites, makes me cheer! It is uncommon for Austria but fascinating and he is increasingly successful abroad as well as with connoisseurs in Austria.
"In my opinion, outstanding wines are the perfect combination of high quality grapes and the winegrower’s sensitive use of oak. Wines which are interesting in their youth gain finesse and expression over the years. Ageing allows them to become special." Martin Arndorfer.
