Domaine des Braves
The Cinquins family have been making wines since 1903 under the name of the Domaine des Braves.
In the 1970s the third generation of the family, Paul purchased much of the land that has made the estate what it is today, one of the most highly respected in Régnié.
Paul as well as holding the reins to the Domaine in his time, who is also known as Paolo locally, was an award winning cyclist in his time and so if you visit the family’s cellars today you will find amongst the Foudres a collection of his trophies and winners jerseys!!
Today it is the fourth generation of Cinquin, Franck who holds the reins to the Domaine. The 45 year old vines are south facing, located around 300m above sea level on a stony plateau, with sandy soils and subsoils composed of a mix of pink granite and limestone.
He practices organic methods and avoids using chemical treatments. He harvests the grapes manually, uses indigenous yeasts and ages his wines in temperature-controlled, stainless-steel tanks which are then bottles unfined and unfiltered.
Whether you opt for the plump Régnié whose complexity and fine structure it owes to the pink granite and limestone or the more unusal White Beaujolais you'll find them both delightful and an enjoyable everyday wine!
