More about this wine

This is a premium Cornalin from Giroud - big, dark and powerful. The grapes come from Ardon, one of the top sites for Cornalin. The winemaking process includes a long slow maceration of some 4 weeks to get maximum extraction of tannins and pigment to ensure structure. The wine is then aged in large oak barrels for some 18 months, during which time it undergoes the second (malolactic) fermentation, which brings softness and smoothness.

A deep dark ruby tinged with purple, the nose is powerful, dominated by spice and black cherry fruit, with blueberry, clove, and vanilla notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied with plenty of dark crunchy fruit and spice, all balanced by good acidity and smooth silky tannins. Approachable already, but will improve with bottle age up to 10 years. 13% ABV, serve at 14-15°C with game, grilled meats, poultry and powerful hard cheeses.
