- Why choose this
- Fun, fresh and easy when young, and surprisingly good even when mature.
Lust & Laune translates loosely as "Joy and Fun" and this sums up this wine very well.
Very pale green, with fruit, spice and minerals on the nose. On the palate it's light, fresh and zesty with a creamy texture and good acidity. Good length.
The ideal apéritif wine, it’s the perfect accompaniment for salads, light appetisers or simply to enjoy on its own.
11% ABV. 5g/litre residual sugar. Drink chilled at 10-11°C.
The area of Weinvietal produces some of the best Grüner Veltliner in the world. I love this one. It is such a delightful wine. It comes from the town of Schrattenthal which is a small rural community, north of Vienna, just next to the Czech border.
This wine is pale, but bright and the nose is wonderfully typical of good Grüner Veltliner. An instant hit of peppery, spicy freshness overlaying super citrus and pear notes.
In the mouth, it excites the tongue with its perfect acidity to which the flavours cling. Lime, pear, pepper and spice all combine to create a joyful explosion in the mouth.
It is a full-bodied white that I enjoy hugely on its own. It will pair well with many foods, but I would suggest antipasti as an excellent alternative to Falanghina, or nutty cheeses.
