Riesling Spätlese "Sophia"

This is a semi-sweet wine. Not quite dessert level but a sweet wine for food or on its own. Try it with a cheese board!

More about this wine

This Kollmann-Lex estate wine is a very pale straw yellow. The nose has intense aromas of yellow stone fruit (apricot, peach). On the palate the wine is smooth, both sweet and refreshing at the same time, with a zippy, lively acidity, balanced by ample fruit - again peaches on the palate.

Reviews

Wonderful Riesling I had 6 Reisling Feinherb, 2011, and 6 Sophia Reisling Spatlese, 2011. Both were produced by Kollmann-Lex, based in the Mosel, Germany. Both wines are the best German wines that I have tasted for a long time. The Feinherb was superb, yet the Sophia was even better it was ethereal. it tasted like liquid marmalade. Both had sweetness and acidity that was well balanced with a fine finish, and neither needed to accompany food, their delicacy and complexity of them would have been spoilt. I would certainly recommend these wines to other German wine lovers.
