Great example of Alpine Lagrein. A dark, purple-rimmed, ruby with very long legs. Plenty of fruit on the nose, straight from opening the bottle, which become richer as time passes. The flavours are intensely fruity with redcurrants and blueberries mixing with blackberry and a hint of raspberry and mint. The finish is long and fruity also. A gorgeous wine and a gateway to the Riserva!
Once again we are thankful for the work of those who have established relationships between grapes through DNA testing. Lagrein had various speculative attributes which are now made clear. It is related to Syrah and Pinot.
This is a wonderful find for us and for our customers.
