As of 2011/2012 Junge Löwen is a youthful fruity 100% Blaufränkisch. 2007 and 2008 were a blend of Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Junge Löwen is at the same time powerful, spicy and with plenty of fruit.
It's Heidi's most popular red wine in the Austrian market. It's very versatile. It works both as an everyday red for casual drinking and also as a more serious wine to accompany food.
It is also a wine that takes chilling well, as do some Beaujolais, making it a great summer wine. This is probably the best way to enjoy it.
Ben says about the 2008 (April 2017): What a clever wine! The blend of the three grapes gives a delicacy in the colour, the nose and the flavour. This is a wine drinkers wine which is great on its own but with a style that allows pairing with many foods.
