This wine bears comparison with that made by Josef Lentsch over in Podersdorf, although Heidi's example is slightly lighter in style and a bit more elegant than the Lentsch wine which is quite a big number. In other words it's in keeping with Heidi's house style. Her Grauburgunder needs a little time in bottle and the 2009 is drinking well now.
2009 - A pale yellow-green, you can't mistake the toasty oak on the nose. On the palate, there are flavours of caramel, malt, a core of rich ripe fruit and some lees-ey sweetness. Nice length with some minerality showing. Drink at 13-14°C. ABV 13.0%.
2010 - Very similar to 2009. A warm white, with toasted wood accents.
Ben says of the 2010 (July 2018): There are good reasons why I love mature whites and this wine contains most of them. Deep and rich with a full body and tertiary aromas anf flavours in abundance. Get it and have fun exploring!
