2005: ** sweetness, 50cl Size.
A pale golden green/yellow, with a nose of lime, minerals and with a hint of peach. On the palate, peaches and lime. rich with good acidity and an initial brief burst of sweetness which recedes to show the fruit. There's a good acid structure and a nice "bite" on the long, rich finish, along with a little spice. This is a really good food wine which will continue to benefit substantially from further bottle ageing.
Ben says (August 2018): Once more, it is impossible to find fault with the original notes. Because of the slightly greater acidity, the tertiary aromas and flavours are yet to make thenmselves known, unlike the 2007. It is a superb Auslese and has no right to still be available!
2007: * sweetness, 50cl Size. Parker 91 points.
Wonderful mineral fruit, fascinating flavours of sappy peach, nectarines, ripe apple paired with mineral complexity. On the palate, delicate, elegant with notable acidity and wonderfully balanced by fine sweetness. Every sip will create a craving for more. Unbeatable price/pleasure ratio! Storage potential until at least 2020.
Ben says (July 2018): The tertiaries are starting to make themselves known. I get some candied lemon peel and ripe bananas as well as the rest of the description.
Flo Says (July 2018): This wine reminds me of sherbert lemons and candy bananas that you would find at the seaside. Highly recommend pairing with blue cheese as the saltiness beautifully balances out the sweetness.
2009: ** sweetness, 37.5cl Size.
Deep, mineral, extremely pronounced aromas with plenty of petrol, crystal clear with a delicate sweetness of peach, lime, pineapple, grapefruit and apricot paired with robust, profound slate flavours. On the palate, very sappy, ripe fruit with an intense mineral zest. The fine acidity and noble sweetness result in perfect balance, extremely dense and long, very clear and harmonious but pronounced mineral finish. To enjoy now until at least 2025. Ben says (October 2018): I concur!
