This is serious stuff, full-bodied, works well both on its own (better not chilled) and with food. Try it with strongly flavoured stews, game and powerful cheeses.
A beautiful deep raspberry colour. On the nose there are red and black fruit aromas, with a hint of spice The palate is dry with dark berry flavours, violets, spice and earth. Very good length, dessicating and earthy. A wine which, if well cellared, will keep over 5 years.
Drink between 16-18°C.
Ben says of the 2011 (September 2018): Chiroubles is often seen as the "gateway" wine into understanding and loving Beaujolais Crus. This particular wine has progressed further and become a mature and much bolder version of it's youthful identity. The nose retains a lot of freshness and the fruit is still in the ascendancy with red and black cherries being joined by the aroma of blackcurrant stems and leaves. Altogether delightful! In the mouth the cherries continue wonderfully. This is a lovely wine and deserves to be enjoyed!
Flo says of the 2011 (September 2018): This Chirouble is beautiful, the most Swiss in style of the Beaujolais Crus this Chiroubles very much shows the granite soil upon which it is grown, with a great minerality and hints of smokiness. Easily my favourite Beaujolais Cru this wine sings in the mouth and reminds me with every sip why I adore Beaujolais so much.
