The Chasselas grape is the white grape of Switzerland. This particular Chasselas comes from Morges in Vaud, just to the west of Lausanne on the shores of Lac Léman.
The wine is very pale lemon in appearance and has a delicate nose of apple skins with a hint of citrus.
Despite the delicacy on the nose, the palate provides far more. This is a quite fruity wine with the apple coming through much more strongly. There are some very nice minerals, a lovely stoniness and quite a long finish.
This is a gentle and subtle wine that can be drunk very easily on its own or as an apéritif. As far as food pairing is concerned you can do as the Swiss do and pair with fondue, obviously, but also with fish and white meat. This is an opportunity to have a taste of Switzerland as the Swiss taste it.
