Matured 12 months in large oak casks, this is a big wine for sure. The fantastic colour is very dark red, almost opaque, and the nose is peppery and spicy, characteristics reflected on the very smooth palate which has powerful dark cherry flavours, minerals and a hint of marzipan. Good length, peppery/spicy finish. One for food.
Every year Austria's prestigious classical music concert series, the Salzburg Festival, chooses two wines from amongst the country's most renowned wineries for a special Festival-Edition bottling, to be served at all official events and featured at local restaurants and wine shops in the "City of Mozart". For the 2009 festival, Heidi's Blaufränkisch Kulm 2007 vintage was one of the wines selected for this honour. The photographer Luigi Caputo contributed his work and talent to the label design that appears on the bottle. The wine radiates a full, silky purple-red glow from the glass and exudes an enticing aroma of oxheart cherries. Together with its definitive minerality, structured tannin and succulent fleshiness, it embodies the classic character of Blaufränkisch from the Neusiedlersee-Hügelland wine region.

Deep, deep ruby, verging on garnet in colour.
The nose is filled with black cherry and plum and underneath that a hint of crushed pepper.
In the mouth, this wine takes hold. It is dry, exciting and full-bodied. Dark fruits abound, especially cherry and blackcurrant. Spices and well-crafted tannins grip the mouth and bring the senses into sharp focus.
This wine has an exceptionally long finish with the flavours continuing and the beautifully balanced acidity coming through right at the end.
