Our reference Blauer Portugieser comes from long time favourite Christian Fischer.
Blauer Portugieser is a very deep dark coloured light and smooth red, usually used in a blend to add colour and density to blends. It tends to be neglected as a variety, often not given much effort or thought and considered a 'filler' wine. Not so with Christian Fisher, who puts as much effort in his Blauer Portugieser as he does in all his classic reds. This is a smooth easy drinking and refreshing red with notes of red cherry and hints of walnut. Deliciously juicy.
Our new reference Blauer Portugieser comes from long time favourite Christian Fischer. When Philip Zull stopped making Blauer Portugieser, I set out on a quest to find a good replacement and visited dozens and dozens of winemakers both at the VieVinum and ProWein fair. In the end, the standout wine turned out to be our very own Christian Fischer.
