Deliciously intense Beaujolais
Beaujolais Villages Nouveau 2021 case, by Alpine Wines' star producer Jerome Lacondemine. This is a more structured nouveau, dark fruit and some tannins. A rare few find it too serious but most love it and find it a fin contrast to the fruitier Philippe Deschamps.
Since 2018, the wine is produced with no added sulfites and minimal intervention, allowing for more complexity in the finished wine. BUT once opened it won't last as long as the classic nouveau.
Until 2020 there was the option of a version bottled cheaper with sulfites but now there is only one.
Jerome Lacondemine makes Beaujolais Villages Nouveau from his youngest vines grown on south-facing slopes around the town of Beaujeu. A lot of work and care goes into the vineyard so this is not a just-fruity nouveau, this has more complexity. If you want more fruit, try the Deschamps Nouveau.
IMPORTANT: We order what people preorder with only a little bit extra stock. I try to have enough to get to Christmas, but this happened only once in the past five years
The Lacondemine Nouveau is produced with no added sulfites and minimal intervention, allowing for more complexity in the wine - but it won't keep days after opening like a sulfited wine might.
