This unfiltered Merlot from southern Ticino is always something of a surprise. The climate is cooler and the grapes are grown at 500m.
The result is a lovely wine with a beguiling softness that draws you in. The dark fruit on the nose is joined by a mintiness that rides on the acidity and alcohol. The flavours are intense and quite earthy with damsons and plums, blackcurrants and blackberries and some black cherry. The tannins are present but soft and the whole is a delight.
This is a real "Hooray, it is Friday!" wine.
