In 2002 Andreas Urban took over 7 hectares of vineyards from his father and so his journey began growing the vineyard to the 22 hectares of vineyards that it is today along with the title of “Winemaker of the Year 2015".
From the start he had very clear ideas about what he wanted to achieve; To work with indigenous varieties like Grüner Veltliner, Röter Traminer and Gelber Muskateller and achieve the highest quality possible.
Being from the next generation of winemakers he was keen to bring modern, innovative and dynamic practices to the vineyard and winery. His philosophy was to provide an adaptive response to the vagaries of nature in the vineyard and to produce wines that are clean, well-structured and with a long finish.
We have some great bargins in the store. If you like mature wines (and I do), I found the 2009 Gelber Muskateller full of tertiary notes yet with still a balanced acidity. This is a rare opportunity to taste some old vintages at a really affordable price…
