- The Wine
This green and gold beauty comes from an area surrounding a small medieval village on the north shore of Lake Neuchâtel. From such a gorgeous location you would be right in expecting a gorgeous wine.
Chasselas is grown throughout Switzerland and it is a very versatile grape, picking up the differences in terroir and displaying them in the wine. Almost every village has its own version and the differences are quite remarkable.
The Goutte d’Or appeals to the British palate as it has slightly more acidity than is usual for Chasselas, usually famed for its soft creaminess.
This is a beautifully smooth wine, full-bodied and refined.
Serving Suggestions:Most seafood, with or without sauce, as well as being a perfect accompaniment to cheese.

- Tasting Notes
There really is something special about looking at a really clean wine in a glass. This wine shines with hints of yellow, green and silver but it lived up to its name with plenty of golden liquid sunshine to enjoy. Green apple with different types of blossom, including the Chasselas blossom itself, appear on the nose and there is a slight minerality with just a hint of sweetness.
The acidity provides a firm attack and helps to elevate the flavours of green apple and fresh pear that predominate. As is usual for Chasselas, there is a slight prickling of petillance on the tongue. The finish is long, very long, and moves from fruitiness into a wonderful taste of pear drops that lingers for ages.
