Fernand Gravallon's Fleurie is grown on soils which are principally granitic.
Vintages available 2009 and 2011.
These wines from the stellar vintages are a lovely vibrant purple and are beautifully fruity, with raspberry, cherry and summer fruit aromas. Will improve with a bit of bottle age and will keep for 10+ years from the vintage if cellared correctly.
Best drunk with red or white meat dishes.
Ben says of the 2009 (August 2009): It is always exciting to open a 2009 Beaujolais. This is another excellent example. Whilst not as typical as most Beaujolais Cru, this is a remarkably lovely wine. Deep ruby with a dark rim, it has a soft aroma with black and red cherry. The cherries continue on the palate and the softness of the wine is amazing. This is such a glorious wine and must be enjoyed as soon as possible!
