- The Wine
Philippe Deschamps makes a delicious and impressive Brouilly. We're lucky to still have four different vintages in stock which cover two milestone years and an excellent classic year.
2009: Slowly coming into its stride
2010: Fruitier and fresher than the 2009 and 2011. A classic Brouilly that should delight everyone.
2011: Ben says (August 2017): Light and lovely, this wine has now come into its own. The years of waiting have been well worth it as this is now splendid. The nose has hints of burnt toffee and stewed plums with other black fruits, mainly cherry, swirling around in the mix. In the mouth this is an acidic cherry hit. It is fabulous.
2013: Very similar to the 2011 but perhaps an easier-drinking wine. Ben says(July 2016): "The acidity is still quite high so keeping it a while longer would be a sensible decision. I would estimate a couple more years at before it reaches it's full potential. Having said that, it is very drinkable now. As fresh as the morning dew with masses of cherry on the nose and palate. It is, of course, very mouthwatering so pair it with the right food and that will be balanced."
2013: Ben says (March 2018): As I suggested in 2016, this needs to be drunk now! It should last a little longer but is not one to lay down. A perfect example of Beaujolais Cru.
2010: Ben says (July 2018): The time has come to drink this wine before it is too late. still drinkable but starting to lose a little of it's former glory.
2011: Ben says (July 2018): What a difference a year makes! Unlike the 2010, this is still going strong and very good indeed. I would still recommend drinking it now while it remains excellent.
2015: Joelle says (September 2018): this was magnificent when we first tasted it in September 2017 (and bought all that was left) and is still a baby - but a very ready to drink baby.
