- The Wine
The years have been very, very good to this wine which is a rich golden liquid of immense attraction. The mincemeat/raisin aromas (or baked apple with lots of brown sugar and some citric acidity) are strong and delightful and very Christmassy. In the mouth there is the glorious taste of age with tobacco/cigar box, deep candied orange with the subtle bitterness of marmalade oranges and a hint of tonic water! The finish is sweet but not overpowering.

Tarte tatin anyone?
Taking a good whiff from the glass once I poured this older wine instantly brought salivating thoughts of a tarte tatin to my mind. There’s a taste of caramel in the mouth, but there’s also a clear acidity that comes along with flavours of baked apple and raisins. The finish is simple and hints at a touch of quinine. For me this is a wine that should be complimented with food.
