- The Wine
Schilcher is a unique dark rosé made from the indigenous Blauer Wildbacher grape. It has distinctive acidity and makes a very refreshing wine, whether made still or (more often) sparkling.
This is an extremely good example of a Schilcher - one of the best I've seen. Bright neon pink, with aromas of raspberries, strawberries, currants and even a hint of gooseberry. On the palate, good rich fruit to balance the underlying acidity. Quite racy yet with a creamy texture, flavours of strawberries and red berries with a hint of citrus zest. Very good length. Very fresh, drink chilled, on its own or with salads, grilled meats or lightly spiced dishes.
