- The Wine
Ruby with youthful purple hues, on the nose sour cherries. On the palate, juicy berry fruit, elegant acidity and typical peppery spice, balanced and pleasant tannin - a wine with charm.
Pair with beef (sirloin, T-bone steak, roast beef), lamb, game (venison, wild boar, hare, all in strong sauces), chicken in red wine, cheese, nuts - but also drink outside mealtimes for contemplative hours.
Aroma and taste unfold differently depending on the temperature. Aerating and drinking temperature have great influence on the harmony of the wine.
Flo says of the 2013 (July 2018): Juicy berries, balanced acidity and a hit of black pepper on the tannins. This wine holds up to the test of time. Delicious with or without food.
Ben says of the 2013 (January 2019): We took this lovely wine to the Three Wine Men Christmas tastings in Cambridge and Manchester. It was a great hit! There is something very special about introducing a less-known grape to willing tasters and Zweigelt is always a winner. This one, in particular, was received very well indeed with many positive comments on the fruitiness, the crunchiness (thanks, Oz!) and the long finish.
Tim Atkin MW summed it up like this: "Lovely, tangy and refreshing red showing strong minerals, a nip of tannins and a core of raspberry and red cherry fruit."

Reviews for Rubin Carnuntum 1 item(s)
A dark ruby in the glass, leading one to think this may have more depth than the (lovely) Netzl Classic. It does, richer on the nose this wine was still fruity and juicy but deeper into the Cherries with a touch of spice. Quite easy drinking with fine tannins and gentle acidity, the alcohol had a tendency to dominate the nose when the bottle had been out a while and was a bit warmer. I found the wine more in balance in nose and taste when slightly cooler.
