Gamay from the beginning of the Valais is beautiful, and Robert's a perfect example. He makes a lovely rich red, and at the same time uses the free run juice to make this titillating rosé.
Having tasted a bottle of the 2014 recently, this was a much anticipated wine. It is lovely. Whilst Pinot Noir stands as the main rosé grape in Switzerland, as well as Merlot in Ticino, Gamay is often overlooked. Beaujolais offers a number of excellent examples but this, for me, is the crowning glory.
This is a wine with a phenomenal amount of flavour to offer. Already starting to give some richness, it is easy to see why the 2014 was so fantastic and reassures you that this is a rosé that can be kept for many years with the promise of steady maturity. It is rare for any wine of this style to excite me and this is one that really does.
tasting notes:
An intoxicating nose with plenty of strawberry and masses of tropical fruits - banana, mango, melon - obliges you to taste with an almost undignified speed.
When you do, the taste amazes. The aromas are transformed and magnified massively

Rosé de Gamay 2017, Domaine des Muses

I'm a fan of Gamay as an unsung grape, so was intrigued. More colour, perhaps more substance than I had expected, I thought I tasted a little more sweetness too. I would like to try the red and taste again.
