This wine is made from grapes grown in the Chablais Vaudois on gravel soils overlaying sandstone and limestone. Winemaking includes 8-10 days temperature controlled maceration, the first 2-3 days of which were at an elevated temperature of 28°C allowing maximum extraction of colour. The wine undergoes full malolactic fermentation prior to ageing for 12 months in oak barrels.

 

Ben says (October 2016): What a joy it is to find a wine that has been available for years but has hardly been touched! We do have a vast array of Pinot Noir on the website and it is easy to overlook some but this is a wine that deserves far more. It needs to be looked at and then enjoyed!

Beautiful Pinot Noir clarity means the sun shines through this ruby treasure beautifully. (As I taste, my table is in direct sunlight!) On the nose, everything that Pinot Noir should be and more - deep organic mulch, dark red berries, cinnamon and ginger, old leather bookmarks and a touch of tar. Gorgeous!

In the mouth, this is a dark masterpiece. Black cherry dominates but is upheld by rich chocolate and hints of burnt caramel. Delicious!

As you may have gathered, I love this wine.

Try with red meat dishes with rich sauces, lamb, beef or pork dishes and soft cheeses.
Vintage 2008

An intense ruby with a classic Pinot nose with plenty of black fruit, cassis and vanilla, also with some earth and dark spice. On the palate, full bodied and powerful, quite lush and rich, with plenty of ripe fruit and soft gentle tannins. Subtle vanilla from the oak which is not at all overdone and good structure. Excellent length, dry, warming and spicy.
