Classic Moulin, with violets and rich dark fruit on the nose. On the palate, plenty of crunchy brambly fruit, excellent structure and a hint of spice. Good with game and red meats.
This wine is made from grapes from a number of sites, with vines aged on average 45 years. The terroir is composed mainly of pink granite called "Ghorra". Exposition is generally South-Southeast at an average altitude of around 250 metres. Yields are restricted to 50hl/hA. Vinification is conventional with a maceration of 10 to 12 days with 6 months in large oak foudres after fermentation is complete.
The overall treatment gives a wine which may be aged for a minimum 4 to 5 years and often up to 10 years.
2009: Bottling was at the start of June 2010.
2010 this is a classic Beaujolais Cru. It epitomises exactly what you want from Moulin a Vent. If ever a wine showed that we should not be too influenced by 'great' vintages, this is it.
Flo says of the 2010 (July 2018): This beautiful gamay still has great structure and spice, it holds up to the test of time and is a great bbq wine.
Ben says of the 2010 (September 2018): Lovely wine. Perfet Moulin and typically high quality from Bessone.
