- The Wine
Matured in new oak, this Ticino Merlot is everything you can ask for in a Merlot from Ticino. True to the region and the grape, it is fruity and full-bodied and shows why Ticino is the perfect place to grow Merlot. In fact, almost 90% of vines in Ticino are Merlot. If you need to question why, just try this wine.
Ben says of the 2011 (August 2016): Vast amounts of cherries fill your nose as you breathe in this lovely aroma with plum, dark chocolate, hummus and even some green apple in the background. In the mouth this is a beautifully soft wine, caressing the taste buds with perfect acidity and gentle tannins. The stone fruits dominate but herbal notes join in strongly. The finish is very enjoyable as different flavours pop up. Another great Merlot from Ticino.
Flo says of the 2011 (September 2018): This wine is just a delightful example of Merlot from Ticino, the previous tasting notes still very hold up with the delightful roundness and richness of ageing.

Much Ado about nothing? No!
What happened on first pouring? We all took a bit longer diving in by taking in the aroma – fantastic. Such depth of cherry and so full. Things that spring to mind – roundness, smoothness and that smell. This was top drawer. Ticino is noted for Merlot, this was my first introduction and I’m realising what the fuss is about. I hope it‘s not my last!
