What if we can't be home to accept delivery?

It is best if you leave delivery instructions when placing the order - any preferred days, a safe place to leave the wine (at your own risk), or neighbours you trust to take it for you.

If you know you won't be home you can also specify up front that you want to pick it up from the depot (or from a post office).

If nobody is there and nothing was prearranged, the courier will leave a card advising that you can collect the package at the depot or arrange redelivery.

It's also possible in some regions that they will spontaneously leave the parcel with a neighbour but you can't count on that so leave instructions.

Couriers will also typically retry delivering automatically the next day, so call them right away if you received a card and won't be home as couriers will only attempt to deliver twice.
