Join a celebration of Swiss Wines Tour this October
Alpine Wines, the UK’s leading importer of wonderful Swiss wines, is delighted to be able to offer you the chance not only to drink these beautiful wines in the comfort of your own home, but now to visit the vineyards, meet the wine-makers, sample their excellent vintages, and enjoy some great Swiss hospitality for yourselves. We have joined forces with Swiss specialist travel company, Experience Switzerland Travel, to bring you a special Celebration of Swiss Wines Tour departing on 1st October for 4 nights. Great Experience are the UK specialist for arranging trips especially in Austria, Switzerland and Germany.
On this trip we will be visiting some of our favourite wine-makers around Lac Leman (Lake Geneva) to enjoy exclusive tastings at their vineyards. At the end of the main tour, you can either fly back to the UK, or you will then have the opportunity to extend your stay spending a few extra days in Montreux, travelling on to Zurich, and visiting the only remaining vineyard within the city limits, owned by the famous Zweifel Family, or heading south to Lugano, and visiting our top vineyard in the Italian-speaking Ticino Region before travelling on to Milan for your flight home.
Experience Switzerland Travel is ATOL protected and ABTA member. So that we can maintain the personal touch that we think is essential, we have set a maximum group size of 20 for this trip
1st October – travel out to Geneva (see below). You will be met on arrival and transferred to our tour hotel, The Eden Palace, Montreux, where you will be booked to stay 4 nights on a bed & breakfast basis. On the first evening, we will meet up for Welcome Drinks and Dinner;
2nd October – after breakfast at the Hotel, we’ll leave on a private coach towards the ancient town of Visp, where the railwayheads up to the world-famous resort of Zermatt. At Visp, we’ll be visiting the Chanton Vineyard for a tasting, followed by some free time in Visp. In the afternoon, we’ll head back down the Rhone Valley to Vetroz head back down the Rhone Valley to Vetroz to stop for a wine-tasting and snacks at the Cave Germanier before returning to Montreux, where you are free to explore this beautiful lake-side city and its many restaurants and cafes for dinner;
3rd October – after breakfast at the Hotel, we’ll leave on our coach for Rolle for a tasting at the beautiful Domaine Maison Blanche. We’ll then stop at Lausanne, where you will have an afternoon at leisure to explore the city. You can either take the coach back to the hotel, or take one of the Lake steamers back to Montreux;
4th October – after breakfast, we’ll take the 15-minute walk to the railway station, and take the train to Aigle to visit the Badoux Wines Vineyard. We’ll make way back to Montreux after the tasting for an afternoon at leisure, and then round off our tour with a special farewell dinner at the Montreux Jazz Café
5th October – after breakfast, you will either transfer back to Geneva for your flight back to the UK, or join one of our extension tours. You can stay on in Montreux, and Great Experience can help arrange all the details, travel up to Zurich for the weekend, or travel down to the Italian-speaking region of the Ticino to Lugano and on to Milan.
Optional Tour Zurich
5th October – after breakfast, make your way to the station and take the train to Zurich, and make your way on arrival to the Glockenhof Hotel, right in the heart of Zurich’s Altstadt, for 2 nights on a bed & breakfast basis. You’ll have the afternoon free to explore Zurich and its many places of interest;
6th October – after breakfast, make your way to the Zweifel Vinarium for a special wine-tasting. This is the only still operating vineyard within the Zurich city limits.
7th October – after breakfast, you will have the rest of the day at leisure until you take the short rail trip to Zurich Airport for your flight back to the UK.
Optional Tour Ticino, Lugano
5th October – after breakfast, make your way to the station and take the train to Lugano. On arrival, take the short walk or taxi ride to the Hotel International au Lac, for 3 nights on a bed & breakfast basis;
6th October – after breakfast, walk back to the station and travel by train to Mendrisio. Walk from the station to the Brivio Vinoteca for a wine-tasting and tour before making your way back to Lugano;
7th October – this is a full day at leisure to rest and relax in this beautiful lake-side location;
8th October – after breakfast, take the train from Lugano to Milan and on to either Linate or Malpensa Airport for your flight back to the UK
