- The Wine
If you have been a customer a while, you know the Lacondemine family of Beaujeu. Philippe Lacondemine was Jérome's father, and VIncent's brother, and he tended to vineyards all his life. He died abruptly this spring.
This wine is made in his memory from his vineyards, vinified separately from all the other Villages vineyards, with more effort and care in memory.
It is released at the same time as the Nouveau, but is technically a Villages that is sold as a Nouveau... Regardless of word splitting what it is is DELICIOUS
Jérome makes his wines with no added sulphur in the vineyard or cellar, but they are bottled traditionally. This wine is bottled under vaccuum so that it can be bottled with no added sulphur at all.
- there's a bit of pressure on opening that can cause a tiny amount of splatter and
- it will oxidise in 4 or 5 hours at room temperature once air gets in.
Beaujolais Villages Primeur "Hommage a Philippe" (2019)0.75
This is silky smooth, rich, with lovely grippy tannins. Smells of flowers and blackberries, tastes of every black fruit, very long and moreish. Instant crowd pleaser.
