- The Wine
Classic nose, fresh apple with creamy minerality, a hint of cracked white pepper (perhaps less than is typical for Weinviertel due to the huge amount of care given to this wine). Also some green cress notes.
On the palate, an up-front creamy texture again with pronounced minerality, some pepper, green tea notes and good concentration of primary fruit which is balanced by a crisp green apple and citrus acidity with just the slightest hint of spritz (note: the 2010 now has lower acidity due to maturity). Quite expressive in the mid-palate with very good length and a hint of green herbs on the finish.
2010: A very pale golden yellow, almost water-white. Matured into a warm rich Grüner Veltliner, perfect for dining. Oz Clarke 2012 Selection.
2012: More concentrated (and more alcohol) than the 2010, powerful but will have crisper freshness while young. Very aromatic and savoury. SALON Award winner in Vienna.
2013: Was like the 2010, crisp and fresh in youth, complex and expansive.
Ben says (of the 2014): Just what I want and expect of a maturing Gruner. Lovely richness.
