This is no compromise Cornalin. A ridiculous wine.
First the best vineyard location, a lot of work all year to get small but perfect yields. Then this Cornalin is both fermented and then matured in 400 litre oak barrels, with the natural local yeasts, a technique which it rewards with rich density, supple elegance in the tannins and excellent aging potential.
Dense and elegant, it is not a casual drink. Drink when you can really enjoy it.
Best served with, and worthy of, the finest cuts of red meats!
Tasting Notes Champmarais is a day-bright, pigeon-blood-red wine with purple hues. It is a rich, complex and highly fragrant wine with excellent ageing potential. It presents the aromas of raspberry, blackcurrant, morello cherry and hints of spices (peppercorn, vanilla). On the palate, the wine is elegant and velvety with the fruit and wood tannins perfectly integrated. This is one wine you’ll find very hard to enjoy in moderation.
Vintage 2008
A brilliant purple colour and complex nose, which sports red berries, spiciness and a touch of incense.
