In Chignin, wines made from the Rhône Roussanne grape are called Chignin-Bergeron. We have two of these Berthollier brothers' wines - one in fresh alpine style with a touch of oak and one in a more oaked Rhône style. In the end I could not decide, so on our first shipment I took a little bit of both. This wine is (mostly) unoaked Roussanne - expect a rather rich and ample wine in the nose and mouth. Apricot and peach, honey and a hint of smoke.
Tasting Notes Colour: golden yellow, bright.
Nose: dried apricot, honey, white peach, tropical fruit, spicy and smoked.
Palate: full and dried apricot power, candied fruits and citrus notes, quite full-bodied. Freshness with a spicy minerality.
