Beaujolais Nouveau 2019, by Alpine Wines' classic producer Philippe Deschamps from vineyards in Beaujeu and Brouilly.

For the first time in years we have some left after Christmas. This is the best wine to drink all year, and keep for summer barbecues, so grab some while on winter offer.

So much more than your average Nouveau with no confected notes and a pure and simple red fruit character
We think it's one of the best in Beaujolais and so did the Beaujolais growers association who voted it joint first place best Nouveau 2019!

The French use the word "Gouleyant" for this type of wine meaning "Quaffable". So enjoy on its own or maybe at a summer BBQ!

Tasting Notes

Tasted by Anne McHale MW in May 2020 for an event with 67 Pall Mall, her assessment was as follows: "More concentrated and vibrant than the average Beaujolais Nouveau. No carbonic maceration notes of bubblegum and banana, instead its fresh crunchy red fruit led by raspberries. It's delicious!"

Vintage 2019

from Burgundy Report November 2019 "Medium colour. A modest volume of aroma, but deep and attractively floral too. A fine grain of tannin supports a wine of fresh attack but depth of fruit to balance. A good big mouthful of fine Beaujolais here."

My take: There's quite a bit of violet for us, with juicy red fruit and a nice touch of minerality. Very moreish and easy drinking.
